Most people need to figure out what they already know that somebody else would pay to learn.

Here's how I'd do it.

Open your Notes app (or better a pen and paper) and make 3 lists:

1) What have you done?

Not what you're passionate about.

ACTUAL proof.

Examples:

I know you've done something with your life. And if you haven't, then I highly suggest you go out there and do something. Chances are - your life feels empty because you haven’t done anything worth putting your name to, you haven’t finished anything hard in months, you haven’t sat with anything long enough, you haven’t updated past your first draft.

So go on and live life my friend.

We are entering the era of proof.

2) What do people already ask you about?

Look at your DMs.

Your texts.

Questions from friends.

What do people automatically assume you're good at?

That's demand hiding in in front of your eyes.

I recently came across a creativestarted going viral from those yapping-style videos and everyone kept asking her how she edited them. She didn’t even plan on selling editing information from the get-go. She didn’t know what she wanted to sell. She just paid attention to what people were already asking her for. So she followed the demand. And she made over $300,000 in 4 days.

Sometimes the audience and people around you will tell you what to sell before you figure it out yourself.

3. What problems have you spent an unreasonable amount of time solving?

This one is underrated.

It can be something you struggled with for 3 years and now understand better than the beginner. Remember you just need to be one step ahead to teach.

Maybe you spent years trying to figure out how to cook healthy meals for your family without spending your entire day in the kitchen. You tried meal plans, wasted groceries, figured out what freezes well, what your husband/kids will actually eat, how to prep ingredients ahead of time, how to keep the grocery bill down, etc.

To you, that might just feel like something you had to figure out.

To someone who is newly married or a newly parented overthinking every night at 9pm what to cook?

That's valuable knowledge.

Now look for overlap.

You want:

Proof + Problem + Person

For example:

“Fitness” = too broad.

“I lost 40 pounds after having kids” gives you:

Proof: lost 40 pounds
Problem: postpartum weight loss
Person: mothers trying to lose weight

Now you have somewhere to start.

Another:

“Careers” = broad.

I've landed multiple 6-figure remote job offers and got hired at JPMorgan's headquarters when I was 18 (true story).

So I could build around:

Helping college students & graduates interview for high-paying corporate jobs.

Now I can immediately think of products:

And content:

Don't pick a niche because somebody told you “personal development is profitable.”

Yes, there are profitable niches but you want to first start with your own experience.

It will make the journey a lot easier.

Ask:

What problem can I prove I understand?

Then build around that.
