There is something business did to me that I did not expect.

It made me trust Allah more.

The more practicing I became, the easier business got.

And the deeper I got into business, the more practicing I became.

Nobody talks about this loop. So let me begin.

Having a business is one of the first things in my life that constantly forced me to confront how little control I have over the result.

When I had the hedge fund job, I knew exactly what was hitting my account and exactly when. The direct deposit does the trusting for you.

Now? I literally have no idea what my business will make today.

Some days it's wayyy more than I expected and other days it's way less.

And you know who else wakes up like that?

"If you were to rely upon Allah with the reliance He is due, He would provide for you as He provides for the birds – they leave in the morning with empty stomachs and return full." (Tirmidhi 2344)

An entrepreneur wakes up like a bird, out every morning not knowing what they will find.

I take the means. Allah decides the result.

That sounds obvious when you say it but trust me it feels very different when there is money on the line.

That is where you find out what you actually believe.

When you run a business, you want it to do well. Obviously. So what do you do?

You pray more. You make more du'a. You do more salawat. You give more.

Because you know exactly where the results come from.

And then it hits you from the other side:

How can I take rizq from Allah every single day and then disobey the One giving it to me?

He's the Provider. I'm asking Him for customers in the morning and then I'm going to delay ‘Asr for a meeting? I’m going to sin while He is watching me? Something is not making sense.

So the business pulls you toward obedience from both directions. You worship more because you want His help. And you obey more because you'd be embarrassed not to.

Now.. is that the purest starting intention? Prolly not.

But sometimes your need is what brings you to His door. And once you're standing there every day, asking, thanking, returning… you stop coming just for the need.

You start coming for Him.

Allah can take an intention that started at 40% and raise it.

But how will you receive if you don’t show up at the door?

How will things flow if you keep that channel blocked?

I noticed a pattern.

On my highest revenue days, the days I feel something great is happening, I automatically do more salawat, more alhamdulillahs, more istighfar. It’s just natural. I have my vintage dhikr counter with me at all times.

Nobody told me to.

"If you are grateful, I will surely increase you." (14:7) plays in your head non-stop.

I used to read that ayah as a promise for later.

Running a business, I watch it unfold in real time.

Here's a rule I keep and I'm sharing it because I want you to steal it:

The first sale of every launch gets donated. Immediately.

First sale of Faceless Million? Donated. First sale of anything?

The Prophet ﷺ said: "Charity does not decrease wealth." (Muslim 2588)

So the way I like to see it: the first sale is not mine to keep. I send it forward and watch what opens up for me.

Try it once. Watch what it does to your heart. You'll be refreshing the dashboard hoping for the first sale so you can give it away. That completely rewires what a launch feels like.

Before business, I could get away with a messy schedule. Sleep whenever.

Now I can't.

I have worship, family, health, AND a business. Something has to organize all of that or everything will break (it's not pretty and the answer is time management).

So business forced me to get my sleep right and as a result everything else right. It gave my brain something to work on instead of rotting during free time.

The structure business demanded from me became the structure my deen benefits from.

One keeps strengthening the other.

This whole loop (the person you become while running the business) is exactly why I wrote The Muslim Operator.
